Privacy on geo-score.dev
geo-score.dev is a static website with one live endpoint, the online scorer. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and no advertising, and does not store the URLs people submit. This page says exactly what happens to a request, so you can decide whether to use the online scorer or run geo-score yourself.
What happens when I score a site online?
- The fetch. Our function, running on Vercel, fetches up to 5 public pages of that site plus the files a score needs: robots.txt, the sitemap, llms.txt, the logo and sameAs profiles its markup names, and Wikidata and Wikipedia search for the brand. It reaches public internet addresses only.
- No storage. The URL and the result are not written to any database or file, and our code writes no logs about them.
- The cache. The result for a normalised URL is cached at Vercel's CDN for up to 1 hour, so that the same request within that hour is answered from the cache instead of fetching the site again. An answer that a site could not be scored is cached for up to 10 minutes, and a refused address (a private network, an IP address, a non-standard port) for up to a day.
- Rate limiting. To stop abuse, each function instance counts requests per network for 10 minutes. It keeps a salted hash of your IP address in memory only, never on disk, and forgets it when the window passes or the instance stops.
- Only level 1. The online scorer never asks an AI engine anything and uses no model API key.
What does the hosting provider keep?
Vercel serves this website. Like any host, it processes every request, and its platform keeps request logs, which can include the requested path and therefore the URL you asked to score, for a limited time under its own terms. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Does the website load anything from third parties?
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them; see Google's privacy policy. Nothing else is loaded from another site. Your choice of light or dark theme is saved in your own browser's local storage and never sent to us.
Does the geo-score tool collect anything?
No. The open-source CLI, GitHub Action and MCP server send no telemetry to anyone. A run fetches the site you name and the URLs it points to; levels 2 and 3 call only the AI providers whose keys you set. You can run everything on this website yourself with uvx geo-score@1.8.3 example.com.
